Point variable

A variable that may take a point as a value. The point variable's value is often referred to as its position. In Drawmetry, a point variable is marked by a small dot at the point variable's position.

Draw a Flowchart

In this tutorial we are going to use a set of reusable components that have been prepared in advance.
Preparation: Download a zipped folder containing the components  from here, unzip the folder and save it to a desired place on your computer. Open the folder in a file browser.

Draw a Circle

  1. Start Drawmetry and enter "Insert Point" mode by clicking on the "Insert point" button, which has an arrow over a small green square. Hovering over a button brings up a tool tip telling you when your cursor is over the "Insert point" button.
  2. Double-click in two different place on the canvas. This inserts two point variables each marked with a green dot. When a point variable is selected the dot turns into a small square.

Features

Features

  • Constraint support. The user may express dependencies between the various points of a drawing, such as the distance from one endpoint of a line segment to the other, the angle at vertex of a triangle, horizontal alignment of a point relatively to another point. (Mathematically speaking, these points are point variables since they may take different values (or positions) at different times.) Drawmetry automatically repositions any point variables so that the constraints are satisfied at all times.

Introduction

Drawmetry is a drawing application for creating vector graphics. The saved file format is readable by any application that supports SVG, which includes most web browsers (Internet Explorer, though, requires a plugin) and some other drawing applications such as Inkscape and Visio.
